Where to start?

Initially, the following questions should be answered by the inventor and his or her colleagues:

  • What is the concept of the invention and how does it work? What is the essence of our invention?
  • What is the technical problem being addressed?
  • What approaches have been taken by others to solve the same or similar problem?
  • Is the invention novel or does it have any novel features over the existing approaches?
  • What is the technical effect of these features? How is the invention better?
  • Am I in a position to commercialise the invention?
As part of the above, you should carry out some searches to get an idea of what is existing to the public.
